Where does AI help a mid-size tour operator, and where does it not?

Every supplier and every conference now talks about AI. For a mid-size operator, the question is not whether to use it.

The question is which two or three uses pay back this year, and what must be in place first.

Uses that tend to pay back

  • Product content and translation. Drafting descriptions, FAQs and translations for each channel, reviewed by your team.
  • Customer service triage. Sorting incoming questions and drafting replies to the common ones, with a person approving.
  • Review analysis. Reading hundreds of reviews each month to find recurring complaints by product.
  • Internal search. Letting staff find contract terms, supplier details and procedures in seconds.

Uses that need groundwork first

  • Demand forecasting and pricing. Useful, but only on clean and complete booking history.
  • Fully automated customer agents. Risky with complex bookings, refunds and supplier issues.
  • Personalised offers. These need customer data you are allowed to use, with consent.

AI is also changing distribution

Travellers are starting to plan trips inside AI assistants. These assistants draw on structured product data, reviews and well-written pages.

Operators with clear, complete and consistent product information across channels are easier to recommend. That favours good content on your own site, not only on the OTAs.

A 90-day plan

  1. Name one owner for AI, with real time allocated.
  2. Pick two uses from the first list and set a measurable goal for each.
  3. Write simple rules: which data can be used, and what a person must review.
  4. Review the results at 90 days and stop what does not work.

The aim is to make your team faster on work it already does. It is not to start a separate project nobody owns.

We practise what this article describes: this site is run by AI agents on NanoCorp, while the advice itself comes from the partners.
